This position is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency within our quarrying activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold exemplary Health & Safety practices to foster a secure working environment.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and procedures consistently.
- Maintain production levels in accordance with the quarry operational plan while prioritizing safety.
- Analyze geological and ceramic data for informed decision-making.
- Oversee clay extraction processes, adhering to safety and environmental protocols.
- Strategically plan and construct stockpiles to meet ceramic specifications and volume demands.
- Coordinate with third-party contractors, internal teams, and logistics providers to ensure timely supply to customers.
- Manage budgetary constraints and control costs associated with quarry operations.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders regarding clay quality and production challenges.
- Provide problem-solving assistance to clients facing raw material production issues.
- Oversee quality assurance and environmental management systems within the quarry.
- Manage estate responsibilities, including landscaping, restoration, and aftercare initiatives.
- Collect, analyze, and utilize extraction and ceramic data to meet key performance targets.
- Lead project management efforts for defined capital expenditure initiatives.
- Evaluate alternative sources of clay or raw materials.
- Participate actively in health, safety, and environmental audits.
- Identify and address training needs for quarry personnel.
- Contribute to best practices in quarry plant operations and water discharge management.
- Establish and monitor relevant KPIs to enhance operational performance continuously.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement across all operational facets.
- Collaborate closely with Geology, Ceramics Technology, Factory, Planning, and Estates teams on raw material optimization projects.
- Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community members and regulatory agencies.
Essential Qualifications:
- A recognized qualification in quarry management.
- Enrollment in the IOQ/IOM3 quarry CPD program.
- Extensive experience in managing large-scale quarry operations.
- A recognized qualification in geology or mining.
Skills and Attributes:
- Proven experience in quarry management.
- Ability to meet targets and deadlines effectively.
- High level of computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Proficient in structured problem-solving techniques.
- Effective communication skills across all business levels.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent qualification.
- NEBOSH certification.
- A recognized qualification in ceramics.
