About the Role

NES Fircroft is seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Specialist to join our team. As an Instrumentation Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing front-line support to our operations site-based team, ensuring the smooth operation of our instrument and control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instrumentation and Controls Expertise: Specify scope and execute improvements to instrument and protective systems, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Asset Strategy and Planning: Act as asset IPS engineering focal point for site projects, including studies, and develop long-term asset strategies to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Reliability and Maintenance: Lead discipline improvements in plant reliability, equipment strategy, defect elimination, and equipment rationalization, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal maintenance practices.
  • Safety and Compliance: Lead discipline improvements in plant reliability, root cause analysis, defect elimination, and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Management: Act as custodian of key IPS engineering documentation, including control philosophies, cause and effect diagrams, hazardous area drawings, loop diagrams, trip and alarms registers, and alarm response manuals.
  • Technical Support and Coaching: Provide technical support to asset TAR activities and coach asset instrument technicians to ensure their competency and skills are continually improved.
  • Incident Management and Travel: Participate in incident management teams and travel to offshore platforms or remote onshore sites to provide technical support.
Requirements
  • Education and Qualifications: Hold a degree in Instrument Engineering and be a Chartered Engineer or actively working to achieve chartered status.
  • Experience and Skills: Possess 5+ years' experience in the O&G, Refining, or Chemical Industries, with knowledge and experience of the design, operation, commissioning, and maintenance of legacy instrument equipment, control systems, and ESD systems.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Have a comprehensive understanding and applied knowledge of relevant UK Regulatory (Safety Case, COMAH, etc) and industry standards.
