About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Neonatal Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a Neonatal Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to our local community and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized, holistic care to infants and families from diverse populations
  • Assess, monitor, and prioritize care of infants while working collaboratively with the team to ensure timely delivery of care
  • Identify and support families who may require safeguarding interventions and follow trust procedures to ensure involvement of appropriate professionals
  • Make decisions on patient care, record accurate information, and adhere to professional codes at all times
  • Strive to provide a positive patient experience in a safe environment and actively promote family-integrated care that respects and maintains dignity and human rights
Requirements
  • Registered Child/Adult Nurse or Midwife on the NMC Register
  • Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
  • Previous/recent experience working in an acute secondary NHS care setting (can include student placements within the last 12 months)
  • Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and ongoing professional development/competence
  • Experience of working on own and in a team in a healthcare environment, delegating to others within a team/providing supervision to others
  • Willingness to become a practice supervisor/assessor to or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
  • Understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct
  • Understanding of preceptorship and work-based learning and assimilation of skills and knowledge
  • Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context
  • Understanding/experience of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity
  • Awareness of health and safety issues
Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Neonatal and family-integrated care
  • Awareness and understanding of Baby Friendly Initiative and how to maintain these standards
  • Knowledge of West Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (WMODN)
