Historic Houses is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director of Policy & Public Affairs to join our London-based office team.

About the Role

The Director of Policy & Public Affairs will develop and implement a public affairs strategy for Historic Houses, influencing the development of public policy in the interests of the houses and gardens we represent.

This role involves building and maintaining good relations with stakeholders, including government and sector partners.

The postholder will develop and implement public affairs campaigns, commission research projects as necessary, and advise member houses on policy, public affairs, and education-related matters.

They will also manage a team of policy and engagement professionals, including a Policy & Engagement Manager, a Parliamentary & Public Affairs Officer, and a part-time Policy Adviser for Wales.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement a public affairs strategy for Historic Houses
  2. Build and maintain good relations with stakeholders, including government and sector partners
  3. Develop and implement public affairs campaigns
  4. Commission research projects as necessary
  5. Advise member houses on policy, public affairs, and education-related matters
  6. Manage a team of policy and engagement professionals
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of public affairs and policy development
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience of developing and implementing public affairs campaigns
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
