Senior VAT Accountant

Your new company is a growing, modern, and recognizable multinational merchandising business based in Manchester, seeking a knowledgeable VAT accountant to join their in-house tax team. The business partners with large, global brands and offers a range of services and support to their client base. The company provides an excellent range of benefits, including hybrid and flexible working, annual bonus and salary reviews, early finishes on Fridays, and a modern working culture.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the timely preparation and submission of VAT returns across European entities, including the UK return and coordination of submission by third-party advisers for other European returns.
- Coordinate data input and manage master data accordingly.
- Assist with corporation tax returns when required.
- Prepare and manage VAT returns and payments.
- Identify new ways to streamline existing processes and improve efficiency.
- Assist with VAT registrations and de-registrations across various jurisdictions.
- Take a lead on cash management, monitoring VAT payments and refunds.
- Reconcile VAT-related balance sheet accounts, providing accurate summaries and timely resolutions.
This role is ideal for someone with a good knowledge and understanding of VAT, preferably from working within an in-house VAT role. First-time practice movers with good VAT experience will also be considered. You must have a good knowledge of IT systems, such as Excel, and be comfortable in recommending ways to streamline and improve systems for internal stakeholders.
What We OfferThis position offers a competitive salary up to £50,000, negotiable based on experience, and a bonus/benefits package. You will work as part of a large in-house tax team, led by a senior Head of Tax who can offer excellent training and guidance. The role also offers hybrid working (2 days maximum in the office each week) and early finishes on Fridays, with free parking on site.
