Job Overview

Primary Care Careers is seeking a qualified Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team. This part-time position involves 24 hours of work per week, distributed over four shifts of six hours each, with start times at either 8 AM or 12 PM.

In this role, you will be responsible for processing prescriptions as authorized by healthcare professionals and delivering a precise and efficient dispensing service to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage patient medication requests effectively.
  • Ensure accurate labeling of pharmaceuticals.
  • Dispense verified medications to patients.
  • Cross-check all dispensed items against prescriptions and consult with the prescribing doctor when necessary.
  • Collect and process prescription fees.
  • Handle payment transactions efficiently.
  • Endorse prescription forms as required.
  • Maintain effective stock control to ensure a consistent supply of medications while minimizing waste.
  • Store pharmaceuticals appropriately.
  • Respond promptly to drug alert notifications.
  • Ensure proper storage conditions for refrigerated items.
  • Keep comprehensive and accurate records of all dispensing activities.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of a Level 2 Diploma in Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in a dispensing role.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, particularly in patient interactions.
  • Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a dynamic work environment.

Desirable

  • GPhC registration.
  • Familiarity with general practice operations.
  • Knowledge of clinical computing systems, preferably EMIS.
