Position Overview

Role Objective

The Actuarial Trustee Services division offers a comprehensive suite of actuarial and defined benefits pension advisory services to pension scheme trustees, sponsors, and various stakeholders. This division also extends its expertise to provide non-pension actuarial assessments and recommendations to other sectors within the organization. The position entails collaborative efforts with peers in Investment Management, Broadstone, and additional external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engaging with colleagues from Investment Management, Broadstone, external administrators, and clients.
  • Participating in select external meetings alongside a senior team member.
  • Facilitating direct communication with clients through electronic correspondence or phone discussions.
  • Ensuring compliance with Broadstone's operational standards in all deliverables.
  • Reviewing data preparation conducted by junior staff, addressing and rectifying discrepancies as necessary.
  • Executing and evaluating technical calculations pertinent to individual pension scheme members for peer review, including retirement estimates, trivial commutations, and transfer values.
  • Conducting and assessing technical calculations related to pension schemes for colleague review, including actuarial assessments, and preparing financial disclosures in accordance with FRS 102, IAS 19R, and either ASC 715 or US GAAP.
  • Proposing enhancements to existing workflows to boost operational efficiency.

Technical Expertise and Qualifications

  • Successful completion of several actuarial examinations necessary for FIA or FFA qualification.
  • Demonstrated ability to progress with actuarial examinations.
  • Fundamental understanding of actuarial valuations and financial disclosures under FRS 102, IAS 19R, and either ASC 715 or US GAAP.

Essential Skills

  • Exceptional numerical and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to quickly assimilate complex technical information.
  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Maintain a high standard of ethical conduct, ensuring integrity in all actions.
  • Adhere to all relevant professional standards.
