Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Warehouse Shift Manager to join our team at Gist. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring the smooth running of the site and supporting the Warehouse Operation Managers with various tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the recruitment and induction process for new colleagues within the warehouse department
  • Conduct daily administration tasks, including payroll systems, payroll queries, and holidays
  • Drive shift performance through team leaders to achieve KPIs
  • Forward plan operations and deliver plans in line with live volumes and resource
  • Ensure all safety, health, environment, and quality requirements are fully implemented in the warehouse
  • Maintain a safe and friendly working environment for all employees, agency, and subcontractors
  • Manage direct reports, including wellbeing meetings, long-term sick management, return to work, and disciplinaries
  • Collaborate with 3rd party agencies to ensure appropriate resourcing of operations
  • Day-to-day reviews of plans and system maintenance in line with live volumes
  • Ensure training and development needs are identified and reviewed frequently
  • Plan and organize operational, people, and safety meetings
  • Accident investigations and reporting
  • Conduct hazard walks and observations
  • Maintain and improve performance levels to maximize efficiency of operations in line with account KPIs

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience of a warehouse function within the FMCG Distribution Industry
  • Background operating at a management level is a must
  • Passion for encouraging teamwork and creating an innovative culture where all employees can voice their suggestions and ideas
  • Excellent team management skills for developing Team Leaders
  • Analytical mindset
  • Flexibility to cover a variety of shift patterns in the future
  • Previous experience with Trade Unions is beneficial
