Job Title: Research and Engagement Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Research and Engagement Officer to join our team at Black Country Women's Aid. As a key member of our Centre for the Analysis of Exploitation (CeAnEx), you will play a vital role in conducting innovative research and engaging with communities to identify and support victims of sexual exploitation.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to combine desk-based research with face-to-face work with victims and survivors. You will be involved in a variety of activities, including:

  • Visits to sex work locations throughout the West Midlands and, occasionally, elsewhere in the UK
  • Support for victims
  • Joint working with police and partner agencies
  • Analysis of open-source intelligence
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Involvement in BCWA's FCDO-funded Romania Project, aimed at tackling the trafficking of women from Romania to the UK
  • Involvement in BCWA's projects involving Chinese, Hungarian, British, Albanian, Thai, and Brazilian women
Key Responsibilities

As a Research and Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting research on sexual exploitation and trafficking
  • Engaging with communities and stakeholders to identify and support victims
  • Collaborating with police and partner agencies to develop and implement effective strategies
  • Analyzing data and intelligence to inform research and engagement activities
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience of research and analysis
  • An understanding of sex work, sexual exploitation, and modern slavery
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
