A leading distributor of high-quality produce serving a wide range of customers in the food service and retail industries. They are committed to providing customers with the finest frozen fruit and vegetable products while maintaining the highest standards of quality and food safety.

Role Summary:

As a Senior Production Operative, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring the efficient processing, packaging and quality control of our clients' produce.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Team Leader and Shift Manager with the efficient running of the lines.
  2. Set up print machines to ensure the correct print is on each customer's packaging as specified.
  3. Use a counterbalance forklift to ensure production lines have sufficient produce and packaging.
  4. Move pallets from one area to another using the forklift.
  5. Load produce into hoppers for production.
  6. Weigh the correct amount of produce as per each recipe/job sheet.
  7. Lift boxes of up to 10kg into hoppers.
  8. Quality check produce as it passes through the line.
  9. Deep clean production equipment after each run to avoid contamination.
  10. Complete paperwork to ensure traceability of all produce.
  11. Print and label finished goods for dispatch.
  12. Wrap pallets for distribution.
  13. Work closely with other teams and departments to maximise task efficiency.
  14. Achieve Line and personal KPIs.
  15. Ensure and maintain quality of the product.
  16. Eliminate non-conformances (job right first time).
  17. Gain good working knowledge of the routine machine operations of the line equipment.
  18. Optimise line efficiency while maintaining and improving standards.
  19. Responsible for minding machines in the absence of the Team Leader.
  20. Train, coach and monitor the performance and compliance of Production Operatives & Agency Staff.
  21. Health & Safety Champion.
  22. Good Manufacturing Practice Champion.
  23. Champion continuous improvement in the factory, including Lean Manufacturing Techniques.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Existing counterbalance forklift licence (ideal, not essential).
  • Own transport required due to location.
  • Analytical and attention to detail skills for the completion of documentation.
  • Computer literate.
  • Can-do attitude - leads by example and takes a hands-on approach.
  • Good communication at all levels using verbal and written methods.
  • Comfortable with entering cold temperatures.
  • Physically fit.
