About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Environmental Maintenance Operative to join our team at Leicestershire County Council. As a key member of our environmental services team, you will be responsible for maintaining environmental areas such as verges, hedges, and footpaths in accordance with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out grass cutting, hand hedge trimming, and verge maintenance activities
  • Work flexibly, efficiently, and effectively to meet the needs of the service
  • Support a call-out rota to cover evening, weekend, and public holiday emergencies
  • Conduct activities in all weather conditions and outside of normal working hours
Requirements
  • NVQ 2 in Highways Maintenance or similar qualification
  • Skilled Road-worker Trades Test Assessment
  • New Roads and Streetworks Act (NRSWA) Qualification (Operative)
  • National Highways Sector Scheme 12D
  • Valid Driving Licence and Large Goods Vehicle Licence (ideally with CPC Trained and current DQC Card)
  • Experience of working in a highways or civil engineering environment
  • Knowledge of construction specifications, materials, compaction, and workmanship requirements
  • Understanding of Construction Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements
