About the Role

We are seeking an experienced ecologist with a strong background in protected species licensing to join our team. As a Protected Species Specialist, you will play a key role in designing and delivering robust and appropriate mitigation strategies for complex projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective protected species mitigation plans
  • Conduct surveys and assessments to identify protected species habitats and populations
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with European Protected Species Licensing (EPSL) and Low Impact Class Licence (LICL) regulations
  • Provide expert advice on protected species legislation and best practice survey techniques
  • Prepare and submit reports to clients and regulatory bodies
Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification in Ecology or a related field
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or equivalent
  • Specialist knowledge of protected species, including bats and great crested newt
  • Class licence for one or more protected species
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in ecological consultancy
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
