Position Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a skilled Advanced Cancer Care Practitioner (ACP) to become a vital part of our Rapid Diagnostic Service. This role offers flexibility, with options for full-time or part-time commitments of 30 hours per week. The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive care, guidance, and management while leading a team dedicated to providing exceptional patient-centered services for individuals referred to our rapid diagnostic clinic.

As an autonomous practitioner, you will work independently and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to evaluate, investigate, diagnose, and treat patients effectively.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team within the Rapid Diagnostic Clinic (RDC). Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting triage assessments for patients referred from primary care.
  • Overseeing and coordinating the investigative journey of patients across various hospital departments.
  • Collaborating with the pathway coordinator and GP lead to serve as the main contact for patients and specialty teams involved in the diagnostic process.
  • Facilitating necessary investigations prior to clinical assessments to ensure timely diagnoses whenever feasible.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements

  • Extensive experience in cancer nursing.
  • Proven ability to develop operational policies, protocols, and guidelines to enhance service initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Cancer Waiting Time initiatives and their impact on care pathways.
  • In-depth knowledge of cancer care pathways.
  • Experience in staff and team management.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Understanding of commissioning processes.

Educational Background

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse status.
  • Master’s level qualification in non-medical prescribing and advanced assessment skills.
  • Recognized post-registration qualification in cancer nursing.
  • Advanced communication skills training.
  • Level 2 psychological skills training.
  • Relevant degree in a related field.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Master’s in advanced practice or progress towards it.
  • IRMER qualification.
