F1 Performance Engineer Job Description

Our client, a renowned entity in the automotive sector, is seeking a skilled F1 Performance Engineer to contribute to their team's success. As a key member, you will be responsible for enhancing car performance through simulation, data analysis, and ensuring the vehicle is set up to meet the required specifications for both race and test events.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Race Engineer to optimize performance and analyze data related to car operation.
  • Perform lap time simulations for pre-event preparation, analysis during events, and post-event correlation/analysis.
  • Develop and suggest setup changes and options based on simulation and/or track data analysis.
  • Manage setup sheets/files for car build and simulation purposes.
  • Monitor telemetry data from both reliability and performance perspectives.
  • Run simulator sessions as required.
  • Design and develop necessary data analysis tools to aid in analysis (e.g., Matlab/Simulink/Excel VBA).
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree.
  • Experience as a trackside engineer, preferably in Formula 1, as either a Race or Performance Engineer.
  • Technical background in racing car performance and vehicle dynamics.
  • Technical background in car/system design, operation, build, and preparation.
