Hutcheon Mearns is seeking a skilled Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This is a full-time, temporary position that will be based in the City Centre of Aberdeen. The contract will run for an initial period of 3-6 months with the possibility of further extension or a permanent position.

The Opportunity

The Accounts Assistant will provide financial support to the finance team, focusing on month-end activities and general ledger maintenance. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining the fixed asset register, booking depreciation for all companies, and updating month-end accounting packs for capital expenditure against budget, explaining variances.
  • Posting credit card transactions and monthly reconciliations.
  • Managing and posting petty cash transactions.
  • Setting foreign exchange rates with the enterprise resource planning system for all companies.
  • Managing prepayments and insurance journals.
  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations for multiple entities and resolving unreconciling issues.
  • Preparing and inputting journals.

Requirements and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, be able to use initiative, and have excellent communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is essential for this position. Candidates with experience in a similar role are encouraged to apply.
