Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Tooling Engineer to join our client's engineering team as a Tooling Project Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the design of new tooling, from optimisation to successful introduction into production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the design of new tooling, including optimisation, build, and buy-off processes
  • Review and validate designs for various types of tooling, including high-pressure dies casting tools, trim/clip tools, spray heads, and robot end effectors
  • Project manage tooling vendors and suppliers, including overseas travel
  • Produce 2D CAD product, tooling, fixture, and equipment drawings to support manufacturing, quality, and engineering activities
  • Conduct feasibility reviews and apply design for manufacture (DFM) principles to evaluate product designs and produce summary reports
  • Have a complete understanding of component tolerances, dimensional capability statistics, and GD&T
Requirements
  • Significant experience as a Tooling Project Engineer or Tool Design Engineer, with expertise in tooling design and project management
  • Proficient in 2D/3D CAD, with the ability to interrogate and optimise designs
  • Expert knowledge of tooling, including die casting, metal stamping, and plastic injection moulding
  • Knowledge of robot end effectors, jig and fixtures, runner and cooling design is beneficial
  • MAGMASOFT simulation software and analysis is desirable
  • Project management, supplier vendor management, and effective communication skills are essential
