Job Title: Senior / Principal Microwave Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior / Principal Microwave Design Engineer to join our team at Leonardo. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for delivering innovative microwave designs that meet our challenging customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop microwave circuits and systems using Keysight ADS, Microwave Office, CST Microwave Studio, Ansoft HFSS, or Siemens EDA Mentor.
  • Derive and report against design requirements, ensuring that all designs meet our high standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement design solutions.
  • Conduct RF test methods and equipment, including Network Analysers, Spectrum Analysers, and RF Sources.
  • Debug failing hardware or test equipment, and provide solutions to improve design reliability.
  • Interface with customers, sub-contractors, or in-company stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Assist early careers engineers in their development and growth.
Requirements:
  • Experience within the defence industry, with a strong understanding of RF and microwave systems.
  • Hold an HNC/HND or Undergraduate Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Applied Physics, or have equivalent skills and experience.
  • Proficiency in RF synthesisers, using DDS or PLL technologies, and RF conditioning chains, e.g. Frequency Converters.
  • Design of passive microwave structures, such as Filters, and High Power Amplifiers.
  • Low phase noise design and measurement, and RF Chain Analysis.
  • RF PCB Design, MMIC Design, and Circuits operating over multi octave bandwidths.
  • Model driven engineering using Matlab and Simulink, and Automating test equipment using Labview.
