The East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and organized Medical Secretary to provide administrative support to our medical teams. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical services, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining accurate records.
Main Responsibilities- Transcribe and produce high-quality reports and correspondence from digital dictation and audio-tape, using word processing packages, for the medical teams.
- Manage patient investigation results effectively, including maintaining systems for monitoring and retrieving outstanding investigations, and chasing up missing or delayed results.
- Process health records of patients discharged from hospital, ensuring that follow-up appointments or referrals to other specialties are arranged where necessary.
- Provide administrative support to the medical teams, including inputting and extracting data from patient administration systems and other relevant software programs.
- Act as the primary contact for patients under designated consultants, communicating effectively and professionally to provide reassurance, information, or advice as needed.
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have relevant secretarial experience in an acute hospital environment, with a strong understanding of NHS performance targets and the ability to work as part of a team.
The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of medical terminology and be able to maintain confidentiality, with excellent organizational and time management skills. They will be able to prioritize work and take initiative on matters of importance, with the ability to maintain composure in challenging situations.
