We are seeking a skilled Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT) Engineer to join our Analysis team. This role involves collaboration across various programs within the Engineering team, focusing on the evaluation and enhancement of aircraft structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the cross-program F&DT team to address challenges related to wingbox structures, fixed leading edges, trailing edges, and control surfaces.
- Conduct F&DT analysis on both composite and metallic aircraft structures utilizing standard fatigue, crack growth, and residual strength calculations.
- Define and scope F&DT work packages, providing technical guidance for both internal and supplier-driven projects.
- Assume responsibility for approving F&DT analyses and deliverables, ensuring compliance with established standards.
- Engage with the methods and data group to validate that methodologies, assumptions, and procedures are appropriate.
- Offer expertise on airworthiness regulations to support the static stress and design teams in ongoing product development.
- Assist the Chief Engineers Office with product development tasks and address in-service issues.
- Provide technical advice to concession teams, facilitating solutions for complex repair scenarios.
- Occasionally travel to various sites for meetings and reviews.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in the aerospace sector, with a comprehensive understanding of fatigue and damage tolerance principles as they apply to aircraft structures. Candidates must be capable of attaining signatory status for approvals swiftly. The role demands an independent and proactive approach, with a focus on constructive problem-solving.
Desired Skills
- Proven experience in fatigue and crack growth analysis within the aircraft industry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently resolve technical challenges.
- Familiarity with fundamental analysis methods for fatigue and crack growth, with the potential to develop these methods.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in delivering certification activities.
- Knowledge of relevant policies, methods, and tools to ensure compliance with airworthiness standards.
- Commitment to timely completion of critical tasks while maintaining high standards of aircraft integrity.
- Proficient in using F&DT tools and experienced with computer systems and FE analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, with a strong command of English, both written and verbal.
