Pipe Stress Engineer - Submarines

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pipe Stress Engineer to join our team at Rolls-Royce Submarines. As a key member of our Plant Structural Integrity department, you will play a critical role in the design, manufacture, and safety justification of Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP) pipework and components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct ASME B&PVC Section III, NB-3600, and NCD-3600 analyses of pipework systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and substantiate pipework designs, inform through-life management, and obtain regulatory approval for current class, in-build, and future class submarines.
  • Collaborate with fluid systems engineers and stress experts to assess NSRP pipework systems and develop methodologies to improve structural integrity.
  • Respond to emergent issues and support the fleet as part of a dynamic team.

Requirements

  • Qualified to degree level in mechanical engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate expertise in pipework structural integrity analysis and a strong understanding of ASME codes and regulations.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a pipe stress engineer within the nuclear industry.
  • Familiarity with Autopipe Nuclear and/or pipestress (PepS) pipework analytical software.
  • Good IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data manipulation tools.
