Reader Volunteer
Location: Leatherhead
Time Commitment: Flexible days
We are seeking a volunteer to provide companionship and reading support to an individual at our service in Leatherhead. As a Reader Volunteer, you will spend time with the individual, visiting them and reading to them, promoting social interaction and a love of reading.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide companionship and social interaction to the individual
- Read to the individual, promoting a love of reading and literacy
- Visit the individual regularly, building a rapport and trust
- Assist with sighted guide/orientation as needed
Requirements:
- Love of reading and literacy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Punctuality and reliability
- Kindness, empathy, and patience
- Ability to deal with confidential information
- Ability to assist with sighted guide/orientation
