Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Underwriter to enhance our childcare insurance division at PIB Group. This position is ideal for candidates with a solid background in commercial combined underwriting. Our technical team plays a crucial role in supporting both direct and wholesale operations, addressing various underwriting inquiries throughout the customer experience.

The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of delegated authority frameworks and related practices.

Strong administrative and communication abilities are essential, enabling effective relationship-building with brokers, insurers, and internal teams at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage underwriting inquiries for new business quotes, mid-term adjustments, and renewals in accordance with established delegated authority guidelines.
  • Address technical queries from the team via phone and email within defined authority limits.
  • Conduct assessments on system-generated renewals, identifying policies that require further information before renewal terms are issued.
  • Liaise with insurers regarding referrals for scenarios that exceed our Delegated Authority concerning pricing, coverage, and policy conditions.
  • Organize work allocation effectively, prioritizing tasks as needed while regularly updating the Product and Proposition Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and procedures.
  • Strive to meet and exceed team KPIs, service standards, and targets.
  • Oversee and report on Technical Quality Assurance, along with any additional reporting as requested by the business.
  • Actively participate in coaching and developing training materials, fostering a culture of exceptional customer service, team collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Required Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated underwriting experience, with prior knowledge of delegated authority frameworks.
  • Experience working within a regulated FCA environment is essential.
  • Ability to implement 'best practices' in customer service.
  • Familiarity with bespoke systems, preferably including Acturis.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, along with excellent time management skills.
  • Capability to work under pressure, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
  • Strong communication skills, encompassing verbal, written, listening, and negotiation abilities, with the capacity to engage effectively at all levels.
