Job Purpose

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading the delivery of projects across multiple workstreams from inception to completion. This will involve demonstrating effective leadership and line management skills, setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback and coaching, promoting teamwork and collaboration, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring project goals are achieved within budget and timeline constraints.

The successful candidate will showcase a continuous improvement mentality in all aspects of their work, ensuring effective results for the organization. They will have significant experience working with both agile and waterfall project teams across different disciplines to produce results in a timely manner.

The Senior Project Manager will work closely with Engineering Managers, Product Owners, and wider Project Manager peers to plan and agree on deliverables. They will ensure that timescales are clearly estimated and documented.

The role will involve using excellent communication skills to provide regular, timely updates on project plans, deliverables, and actuals to business stakeholders. The Senior Project Manager will ensure that stakeholders are well consulted and informed throughout the delivery process to guarantee positive business impacts and end-to-end delivery of work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain Overarching Plan: Be responsible for maintaining the overarching plan across multiple workstreams, aligning priorities with product counterparts.
  • High-Quality Planning and Management: Ensure high-quality planning and management of milestones.
  • Project Governance: Determine the appropriate level of project governance required for projects, which will vary in complexity and size. Continually evaluate and suggest improvements to processes and practices.
  • Line Management: Be comfortable providing line management to 2-3 junior members of the delivery team, including weekly 1-2-1s and personal development plans.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive change through continuous improvements from project retrospectives and overall PMO governance.
  • Dependency Management: Proactively identify cross-project and cross-team dependencies. Collaborate with the Programme Manager and other Project Managers to manage these effectively.
  • Leadership in Change and Risk Management: Demonstrate and lead by example in effective change, risk, and resource management within workstreams, aligning with Engineering Managers, Product Owners, and wider Project Managers where appropriate.
  • Communication and Reporting: Deliver clear communication and reporting on project status to departmental leadership teams and Betfred leadership team members.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Define and document the most appropriate strategy to build and maintain excellent relationships with business stakeholders and third parties.

  • Adept at Using JIRA & Confluence: Adept at using JIRA & Confluence with good experience setting up custom dashboards to track key workstream metrics.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in the Gaming/Betting Space: Experience working in the gaming/betting space or similar sector.
  • Demonstratable Experience in Line Management: Demonstratable experience in line management or a leadership/mentoring role.
