Social Worker

Newport City Council Children's Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate social worker to make a positive impact on the lives of families we serve. As a key member of our team, you will work towards achieving wellbeing outcomes that enable families to thrive together.
Main Responsibilities:Service ProvisionTo deliver high-quality services in accordance with current legislation, Social Services policies, and procedures. Manage a caseload efficiently, ensuring timely responses to referrals and effective engagement with service users, carers, and support networks.
Conduct assessments, including carer assessments, within set timescales, and contribute to the development of outcome-focused care plans informed by best practice and organisational context.
Collaborate with other professionals, such as Health, to provide comprehensive services for service users and carers.
Key Accountabilities:- Engage and empower service users, carers, and support networks to ensure person-centred interventions.
- Ensure accurate and timely information is available for service users and carers.
- Attend court as required and prepare/present necessary reports.
- Support the professional development of newly qualified social workers and undertake workload management and practice assessment of social work students.
- Participate in service delivery planning and commissioning, monitoring, and reviewing service delivery.
- Promote service user and carer involvement in care planning and service development.
- Chair meetings as directed by the team manager.
