Position Overview

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is collaborating with the University of Exeter to recruit candidates for the role of Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapist within our Mendip team. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in a comprehensive training program aimed at developing expertise in High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Training Structure

The training program is designed to be full-time over the course of one year, with a part-time option available extending over two years. Trainees will be required to attend university sessions, which will include intensive teaching blocks and regular clinical practice within the service.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Participate in academic learning and clinical practice concurrently.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage a clinical caseload while fulfilling academic requirements.
  • Complete a Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes (KSA) portfolio for assessment.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must possess either a relevant Core Profession qualification or demonstrate equivalent Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes through a KSA portfolio. Candidates currently employed as Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP) should have a minimum of two years of post-qualification experience.
