Child Protection Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking two experienced Senior Social Workers to join our Front Door team at South Gloucestershire Council's Children's Social Care and Preventative Services. Our social workers play a vital role in supporting families and ensuring the well-being of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and manage risk where there is possible or actual significant harm to children, ensuring their safety and protection from abuse.
- Undertake statutory assessments of cases meeting the threshold for social care intervention, including child protection investigations.
- Work collaboratively with families, equipping them with the skills they need to ensure young people live in happy, healthy, and safe homes.
- Develop and implement high-quality, child-centered practices to achieve the best outcomes for children and families.
Requirements
- A qualified social worker with relevant registration to practice and a good understanding of asset and strengths-based approaches to social work.
- Successful completion of the ASYE (Assessed and Supported Year in Employment) program.
- Significant skills, knowledge, and experience in assessing and managing risk for vulnerable children.
- Demonstrated understanding of successful strategies to improve outcomes for children, young people, and families.
- A problem solver with the ability to make important decisions, underpinned by a genuine passion to work collaboratively with children, young people, and families.
