About the Edge of Care Initiative
The Edge of Care Initiative is dedicated to proactively preventing and minimizing the number of children and young individuals entering the care system. We provide direct and intensive support to children aged 8-18 years and their families in their home environments over a period of 4 to 12 weeks, with the possibility of extended support if necessary.
Our Focus Areas:
- Supporting children at imminent risk of entering care or where a rehabilitation plan is at risk of failing.
- Assisting with planned rehabilitation when children are returning home.
- Addressing issues for children at risk of entering care due to frequent absences or risks of exploitation.
- Supporting children who have been permanently excluded from educational settings or are at risk of such exclusions.
- Working with families experiencing breakdowns related to the child's additional needs.
- Engaging with families lacking parental control or presence.
- Mediating in families with high levels of conflict or aggression.
Our approach is centered on enhancing family strengths and developing effective coping strategies while maintaining a strong level of challenge. We pride ourselves on being a progressive service with a positive outlook, working collaboratively with families as a cohesive unit.
