Position Overview

South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is seeking to recruit a Consultant in Geriatric Psychiatry to join our dedicated team within the Older Adult Community Mental Health sector. This role has become available following the retirement of the previous incumbent.

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities, including engagement with the Memory Assessment Service and the Recovery and Support Team.

Job Duties

The role involves joining a well-regarded community mental health team, where the post holder will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to clinical excellence and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework. Responsibilities will include providing medical leadership and engaging with various services.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of two years of experience in Geriatric Psychiatry.
  • Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a current license to practice.
  • Section 12 Approved or the ability to achieve this within three months of appointment.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • oMRCPsych or equivalent qualifications.
  • Completion of ST/CCT training in Geriatric Psychiatry.

Clinical Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Proficient in managing acute medical and psychiatric care.
  • Experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges in a psychiatric environment.
  • Strong clinical skills with a comprehensive medical knowledge base.
  • Able to navigate clinical complexities and uncertainties.

Desirable

  • Broad experience in specialist and sub-specialist areas relevant to the role.
