Job Overview

Brakes – A Sysco Company is seeking a Solution Architect to become a vital part of our Technology team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is crucial in supporting our Supply Chain & Operations network during a transformative phase.

Reporting directly to the Centre of Technology Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for converting both functional and non-functional requirements into effective technology solutions. This includes presenting various options to aid decision-making, taking into account both immediate necessities and long-term strategic goals. The focus will be on projects related to Operations and Supply Chain, particularly emphasizing data and system integration involving platforms such as D365, Mulesoft, and SAP. You will articulate the structure, characteristics, and behaviors of software to stakeholders, clarifying how features and both functional and non-functional aspects of solutions align with business needs and their potential impacts. It is essential that the chosen technology solutions are tailored to meet business requirements effectively.

This position is primarily home-based, though occasional travel across the depot network will be necessary, so flexibility regarding travel is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, govern, and document technical solutions for the Brakes business.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of solution landscapes, outlines, and designs.
  • Participate in Technical Design Authority (TDA), Cyber Security reviews, and Change Management Boards (CAB) as needed, ensuring timely resolution of agreed actions.
  • Collaborate closely with the solution architecture community to promote best practices, tools, techniques, and frameworks.
  • Establish and implement standardized design documentation.
  • Provide coaching to the solution architecture community to enhance overall capabilities.
  • Drive improvements in architecture processes based on feedback and lessons learned from the broader Technology team.
  • Stay updated on application, infrastructure, and data-related technological innovations and opportunities.
  • Attend industry forums to keep abreast of developments.
  • Conduct ongoing research into current and emerging technologies, proposing necessary changes.

About You:

The ideal candidate will currently hold a position as a Solution Architect, possessing experience in leading solution selection and design across diverse solution sets and markets, with familiarity in TOGAF or similar architectural frameworks. Experience in a Logistics or FMCG environment is essential for this role. A solid understanding of existing UK solutions, particularly D365, SAP, Mulesoft, Koerber, APO, and Verizon, along with proven experience in system and data integration projects, is required. Proficiency in architectural tools, software products, and design documentation is crucial for supporting major transformation initiatives. Comfort in working within both waterfall and agile delivery methodologies is necessary.
