Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Scientist to lead our Genomics Laboratory team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. As a key member of our Rare Disease team, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of a high-quality Genomics service, working closely with our partners in the NEY Genomic Laboratory Hub.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement strategies to ensure the laboratory is at the forefront of National Genomic Testing Service.
  2. Supervise and manage staff to deliver high-quality genetic tests, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and appropriateness.
  3. Participate in the training program of the department, providing training for both clinical services and managerial functions.
  4. Contribute to the development of new services and technologies, ensuring the laboratory remains current and effective.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree-level education, plus further specialist training, experience, research, or study to Masters degree level or equivalent.
  • Registration in an appropriate scheme for Healthcare Scientist.
  • Substantial experience in Genetics, with a strong background in service planning, development, and delivery.
  • Management experience, with the ability to supervise and manage staff.
