Your new company, a well-established and reputable Accountancy firm, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/VAT Clerk to join their team on a permanent basis.
The position of Bookkeeper consists of performing a combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain financial data for use in maintaining accurate accounting records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payments, invoices, income, and receipts, and enter data into accounting software or databases, then file hard copies.
- Prepare financial statements showing business income and expenditure, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Pay vendor invoices and track bank account balances, maintaining a high level of financial control.
- Complete VAT returns, ensuring timely submission and accuracy.
- Verify the accuracy of business accounts, alerting the accountant to any errors or discrepancies.
- Record any inconsistencies to help the accountants reconcile inaccuracies, maintaining a high level of financial integrity.
- Develop monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss, and balance sheets, providing valuable insights for business decision-making.
- Prepare employee wages, ensuring timely and accurate payment.
- Manage employee expense claims, maintaining a high level of financial control.
- Assist the Accountant with administrative duties, preparing yearly accounts, and providing support as needed.
- Perform quality work within deadlines, with or without supervision, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
- Interact professionally with other employees and clients, maintaining a positive and respectful work environment.
Requirements:
- Bookkeeping experience is essential for this role, with practice experience being an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data processing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and databases, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- High level of financial control and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
