Job Title: Engineering Manager – Electrical Systems

Location: Various locations throughout the UK, including BAE, customer, and supplier sites.

Salary: Competitive.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Electrical Power Systems Definition team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the design and definition of Electrical Power Systems equipment, managing technical documentation, and providing advice on electrical power technical aspects across various engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage an engineering team to deliver the functional design and definition of Electrical Power Systems equipment.
  • Manage the processes and reviews of technical documentation.
  • Manage associated technical risks, assumptions, and dependencies.
  • Provide advice on electrical power technical aspects across a broad range of engineering disciplines.
  • Engage with customers and suppliers to provide solutions to complex problems.
  • Take a leading role in guiding the team through the systems definition process.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring of more junior team members to ensure necessary capability and skills development.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering background.
  • Engineering Chartership required (or equivalent experience demonstrated).
  • Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team leadership experience.

About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to work on the UK's next-generation submarine design, incorporating technology from the UK, Australia, and the United States. You will be part of a team responsible for defining the system elements required to feed into the submarine design and build process, including design documentation, spatial modeling, and build outputs.
