Job Title: Configuration Engineering Manager

Leonardo UK is pushing the boundaries of advanced sensing, data fusion, communications, machine learning, and defensive aids systems. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in our business execution as a Principal Configuration Engineer, based at our Luton site with hybrid working.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Principal Configuration Engineer to discharge the 5 key Configuration activities into IPTs (Integrated Project Teams) across all lifecycle phases of a Programme. This role has a bias toward Software and Model Based Configuration Management.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Drive a proactive approach to C&DM into IPTs
  2. Support the Head of Configuration and Data Management in encouraging new ideas and innovative solutions into the IPT and the Line of Business (LoB)
  3. Resolve C&DM issues within an IPT by making proposals and driving through solutions
  4. Provide C&DM Basis of Estimate (BoE) into Work packages
  5. Build and manage Customer and Supplier relationships
  6. Demonstrate self-management and be able to support the development of other Team Members when required
  7. Develop and promote knowledge and use of PLM and associated Engineering tools
  8. Work hand-in-hand with our engineering delivery teams to ensure the Project dataset is maintained and configuration controlled
Requirements:
  1. A good understanding of Configuration Management in accordance with DEF STAN 05-57
  2. Excellent practical understanding of the five key elements of Configuration Management:
  • Configuration Management Planning including generation and review of CM Plan
  • Configuration Identification
  • Change Control - Must have had experience in operating Change Control Boards including Configuration status input to the Board
  • Configuration Status Accounting with emphasis on the generation of Configuration Baselines
  • Verification and Audit (led FCA/PCA)
Experience with Software Configuration Management at the point of release into the Product structureA broad understanding of Configuration Control during Software developmentProvided C&DM input to Design Reviews and Certification (Configuration Baseline Management)Configuration Management experience in the development of Safety critical productsUse of Product Management Tools (essential) - Teamcenter version 13 (Unified) and SAP (Desired)Desirable Skills:
  1. Sufficient knowledge to support the Head of C&DM in the continued development of Model based Configuration Management processes
  2. Ability to conduct verification Audits on Software
  3. Dimensions Administration
Security Clearance:

Due to the nature of our products, you must be able to achieve UK Security Clearance (SC) and be authorised to access UK-Eyes-Only and ITAR material.
