Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join our team at a vibrant primary school in Swindon. As a SENCo, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all special education programs in the school, working closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure that students with special needs receive the support they require to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all special education programs in the school, including the Complex Needs Unit
  • Assist the Headteacher in safeguarding duties, ensuring the well-being and safety of all students
  • Teach part-time, focusing on the Complex Needs Unit (0.4)
  • Develop and execute special education policies and strategies, working closely with the senior leadership team
  • Supervise the quality of education for students with special needs, ensuring that they receive a high-quality education that meets their individual needs
  • Manage the Complex Needs Unit and SRP, ensuring that students receive the support they require to succeed
  • Serve as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring that the school has a safe and supportive environment for all students

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • NASENCO Qualification or willingness to obtain within 2 years
  • Extensive experience in special education teaching and staff management
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities, with the ability to work closely with teachers, support staff, and parents
