We are seeking a Versatile Process Technician with both mechanical and electrical qualifications and experience. We are eager to discuss career development opportunities with you. Ideally, candidates will be located in or near the Kent region.

This role emphasizes compliance, technical problem-solving, repair, and maintenance.

As a Field-Based Technician, you will become part of our Wastewater Treatment Team, which plays a crucial role in the daily maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment facilities, sludge treatment centers, and pumping stations. This ensures that all environmental, quality, and customer service standards are upheld while complying with health and safety regulations and achieving budgetary goals.

In this role, you will leverage your mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain compliance, minimize pollution, and ensure the operational efficiency of our sites for the benefit of our customers. You will have the opportunity to innovate and implement solutions, fostering continuous improvement in existing processes.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting both reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms, troubleshooting issues, and performing planned maintenance on equipment daily, as well as installing new equipment as necessary.
  • Coaching, training, and developing staff under your supervision, including overseeing the apprenticeship program.
  • Managing internal projects and accurately updating necessary company systems and databases in a timely manner.
  • Performing inspections and tests on electrical equipment in accordance with company procedures.
  • Obtaining quotations for parts, equipment, or contractor services, and providing self-quotations for work to be performed to facilitate cost assessments.
  • Identifying potential future risks and recommending changes in your daily work, raising these for resolution as needed.
  • Staying informed about new technologies and methodologies to ensure effective work with existing equipment and to identify opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications required:

A degree, apprenticeship, or NVQ in mechanical engineering, with certificates verifying your qualifications.

Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Capability to identify potential issues and implement solutions or escalate as necessary
  • Excellent communication skills, providing technical expertise to internal and external contractors
  • Resilience, adapting to work pressures and a dynamic environment
  • Understanding of mechanical or electrical schematics

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with ISO9001 procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of standard equipment/tools relevant to the specialty and operational processes, including the ability to manufacture simple parts.
