THE ROLE
We are a certified B Corp specializing in furniture and lighting, seeking a Studio Manager to oversee the bespoke design approval process and lead our studio team. The ideal candidate will possess experience working with discerning trade and retail clients, ensuring a seamless client journey from inquiry to final delivery and beyond.
You will collaborate closely with our workshop to create optimal conditions for producing furniture that not only meets but exceeds client expectations.
Your passion for developing both people and processes will drive our continuous efforts to refine and enhance the client experience.
This position is suited for an individual who thrives in a structured environment yet is comfortable navigating uncertainty and challenging the status quo.
You will play a key role in shaping our long-term vision and contribute to our B-Corp re-certification while pursuing defined ESG objectives.
The Studio Manager position encompasses various aspects including sales, project management, design, production, delivery, marketing, and business administration, making the ability to manage competing deadlines essential.
As this is a newly established role, there is significant potential for your responsibilities to evolve over time. Compensation is competitive, including profit sharing and benefits, with a standard workweek of 37.5 hours.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- SALES & PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Confidently manage client expectations at all levels.
- Make key project-related decisions, consulting the creative director/managing director only as necessary.
- Proficiently handle quoting and invoicing using Xero and our quoting tool.
- Understand and articulate design, construction, and finishing details along with associated costs.
- Organize our image library, tear sheets, and other sales resources effectively.
- Manage multiple project requirements while defining priorities and deadlines.
- Ensure visibility of each client's commission within the production pipeline.
- Keep the workshop informed, ensuring real-time information flow.
- Oversee the briefing and approval of drawings, samples, and care guides before handing projects to the workshop.
- Maintain oversight of the shipping process, ensuring sustainable and cost-effective solutions are chosen.
- TEAM DEVELOPMENT
- Optimize studio systems and processes.
- Manage the development and well-being of the team.
- Oversee sales and studio finances, liaising with production and finance managers on pricing.
- Seek ways to minimize our environmental impact and create a positive legacy.
- Shape the overall team structure in collaboration with the production manager and workshop lead.
- Teach studio members techniques to simplify workloads and enhance productivity while maintaining work-life balance.
- Delegate administrative and ad hoc tasks proficiently to ensure satisfactory completion.
