About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Cardiothoracic Histopathology to join our team at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the highest clinical standards to support the management of cardiothoracic patients.
  • Share with colleagues the responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Cardiothoracic Histo/Cytopathology Service and the running of relevant Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs).
  • Experience in clinical teaching and lecturing to colleagues and undergraduates.
  • Actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit.
  • Responsibility for ensuring active participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME).

Person Specification
  • Registered with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Passed the Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) or equivalent in histopathology
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent in histopathology, or expected within six months
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or entry expected within six months
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualification in another specialty (MRCP)
  • Higher Degree (MSc, MD, PhD)
  • Training in cardiothoracic histopathology including transplant pathology
