Your Work Environment:
The Huddersfield facility, located in Yorkshire, employs fewer than 50 individuals.
This site specializes in producing additives for Lubrizol Performance Coatings. Adhering to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO-14001:2015 standards, the plant focuses on manufacturing both aqueous and solvent-based resins, polymers, dispersants, and adhesion promoters for the metals and coatings sectors.
In collaboration with our clients, we create essential components for formulating organic and inorganic pigments utilized in paints, coatings, printing inks, plastics, wood finishing, and metal coatings. Our products ensure efficient particle dispersion, stability in particle size, and deliver superior appearance and performance. The offerings produced at Huddersfield are utilized globally.
Your Responsibilities:
As a Process Chemist, you will provide on-site process support and solutions for both new and existing products and processes. You will efficiently troubleshoot plant issues and conduct continuous monitoring of processes to proactively mitigate quality, safety, and processing challenges. Additionally, you will lead projects aimed at continuous improvement, particularly focusing on enhancing existing products or processes and safety protocols. You will also assist in scaling up new products for production.
Collaboration with a diverse team of passionate professionals will be key to delivering sustainable solutions that advance mobility, enhance wellbeing, and improve modern life.
Qualifications We Seek:
We are looking for a candidate who can engage in and contribute to projects aimed at improving existing products or processes. You will conduct testing in accordance with all laboratory procedures and standards, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy in all results reported.
Your role will involve coordinating new product introductions or raw material modifications with technical, production, quality, and planning teams, while providing in-process troubleshooting and support to the plant. You will prioritize safety by actively participating in safety initiatives and maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Optimizing existing processes to enhance safety, quality, cost efficiency, and energy savings.
- Conducting evaluations of raw materials and laboratory trials for alternative materials.
- Providing immediate troubleshooting support for plant and production needs.
- Maintaining and contributing to plant Management of Change (MOC) procedures.
- Offering recipe and specification support for new and existing products.
- Collaborating with Quality Control on long-term projects.
- Coordinating with R&D, planning, and operations for new product or process introductions.
- Executing projects related to the development or enhancement of analytical methods for in-process parameter analysis.
- Conducting tests following all laboratory protocols, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Operating in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, supporting site safety and environmental initiatives.
- Promoting Lubrizol's cultural initiatives and continuous improvement philosophy.
- Participating in root cause analysis and incident investigations as needed.

Experience with analytical equipment such as viscometers, Titrandos, FTIR, etc., is advantageous.
