About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Study Skills Support Specialist to join our team at Randstad. As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide personalized academic support and guidance to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) studying at Universities and/or Colleges in Sheffield.

The role involves developing a customized learning plan designed to meet the specific needs of each student, fostering their independence in learning. You will work closely with students to:

  • Develop independence and self-advocacy skills
  • Build on strengths and learning strategies
  • Create strategies around organization and time management
  • Create action plans to stay on track with studies
  • Develop research skills and widen knowledge using a variety of sources
  • Distinguish appropriate sources and correctly use references
  • Improve comprehension skills within reading and writing

You will be required to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times, sharing relevant information with Randstad to ensure the best possible service to your students.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must hold membership with one of the following professional bodies:

  • British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
  • Professional Membership The Association of Dyslexia (ADSHE)
  • Dyslexia Guild
  • The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)

Desirable skills include:

  • Experience of working with clients with specific learning difficulties
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to manage a caseload of students
