Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Loan Administrator to join our team at Europe Arab Bank. As a Senior Loan Administrator, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our Corporate Banking and Private Banking departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loan Processing
    • Process bilateral and syndicated loans, including drawdown, rollover, repayment, interest and fee payments, while adhering to segregation of duties and verification controls.
    • Interact with external parties relevant to loans administration.
  • Process Design and Enhancements
    • Establish a process for managing and accurately recording and reporting Master Risk Participation Agreements (MRPAs) and implement a control framework.
    • Support the rollout of the Bank's Islamic finance proposition, ensuring systems and processes are in place.
    • Work with stakeholders and the IT department to establish MRPAs as a product in the Bank's systems.
    • Develop detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Identify process weaknesses and suggest improvements based on previous experience.
    • Deliver training to the offshore team and handover activities to relieve pressure on the Credit Administration and Corporate Banking departments.
  • Daily Processing Activities
    • Check loan documentation and associated payments, process new loans and re-sets.
    • Review documentation, including facility agreements, credit approvals, and legal sign-offs, to facilitate proper execution of deals.
    • Monitor drawdown instructions for completeness and accuracy.
    • Ensure collaterals and conditions precedents are in place prior to authorizing loans drawdown.
    • Prepare the 'Loans Handover File' for the Loans Processing Team.
    • Monitor and process transactions within approved Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and tight deadlines.
    • Liaise with internal stakeholders, facility agents, and the Payments team for smooth execution of processes.
    • Liaise with the EAB local Branch and Credit Department to clarify points specific to pre-assigned Loan Agreements.
    • Ensure Conditions Precedent relating to new Drawdowns are met.
    • Process rollovers, new advances, and repayments for syndicated and bilateral lending in accordance with agent bank or customer requests.
    • Update credit lines and collateral details once relevant documentation is received.
    • Ensure proper record-keeping of loan-related documents.
    • Update and maintain customer records, including account setup and fees/charges.
    • Monitor receipt and follow up on non-receipt of principal instalments, interest, and fees booking under syndicated and bilateral loans.
    • Coordinate loans risk participations between EAB (plc & SA) entities.
    • Resolve issues independently and conduct investigations within agreed SLAs to ensure task completion in time and avoid potential financial or reputational risks to the Bank.
    • Support business lines for loan sell-down upon request.
    • Closings and settlements of secondary market loans transactions with Agents, Counterparties, Legal, and GSO.
    • Maintain high-level communication with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ensure Shariah-compliant processing of Islamic loan transactions under Murabaha, Ijara structures.
    • Contribute to the maintenance of up-to-date Loans SOPs with relevant stakeholders in EAB.
    • Maintain records of drawdowns, drawn and undrawn commitments, collaterals, and MRPA.
    Requirements
    • At least 3-5 years of experience in the banking industry in Loan Admin/Middle Office operations.
    • Loans documentation review to retrieve operational information from facility agreements and other relevant documents.
    • Experience in Islamic Financing (Murabaha, Ijara, etc) is an advantage.
    Competencies
    • Diploma or Bachelor Degree holder.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to liaise and collaborate with other departments.
    • Self-motivated and willingness to learn.
    • Team player who is flexible with job duties as there will be covering of duties for colleagues.
