An exciting opportunity has emerged for a skilled nursing professional to step into the role of Clinical Nurse Consultant specializing in Oncology Care. This position is situated within a collaborative multidisciplinary team at a leading healthcare institution. As an oncology nurse, you will be instrumental in guiding patients from the point of diagnosis, through various treatment options, and into survivorship.
Your role will encompass providing patients with essential information, education, and emotional support. You will operate as an independent practitioner in nurse-led surgical, health, and wellness clinics, as well as in follow-up care.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance the oncology service by streamlining patient pathways, enriching the patient experience, and developing proactive support frameworks for patients.
- Facilitate ongoing support groups for individuals affected by cancer.
- Independently manage a diverse caseload of patients.
- Ensure that patients and their families receive comprehensive information and support, addressing both clinical and social needs.
- Lead the advancement of evidence-based nursing practices in alignment with current research and clinical guidelines.
- Establish effective communication channels with primary healthcare teams to improve knowledge and care for this patient demographic within the community.
- Collaborate with fellow members of the oncology nursing team and provide coverage as necessary.

- Maintain a high standard of evidence-based nursing care by assessing the health and nursing needs of patients and initiating appropriate interventions.
- Manage a patient caseload effectively, ensuring that each patient has a detailed care plan that reflects their individual needs.
- Engage in inpatient care, collaborating with ward staff to uphold quality nursing standards.
- Lead nurse-led outpatient services, ensuring comprehensive consultations for newly diagnosed patients.

Qualifications and Experience
- Registered Nurse with NMC Level 1 or Level 15.
- Clinical expertise through formal qualifications or extensive experience in the relevant field.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to communicate complex information effectively to patients and their families.
- Strong leadership capabilities.
- Proven experience in service development and management.
- Experience in conducting research and audit programs.
- Advanced clinical assessment skills or a willingness to develop these skills.
