Job OverviewWe are seeking a talented Junior Jersey Designer to join our team, supporting the Senior Designer/Designer in creating original, beautiful, high-quality products that reflect the brand's DNA and capture emerging trends. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing original styles, working with suppliers to develop prototypes, and managing the presentation of designs in meetings.
Key Responsibilities- Design Development: Assist the Senior Designer/Designer in creating and designing products that reflect the brand's positioning and customer requirements.
- Storytelling and Research: Work with the Senior Designer/Designer to build stories, produce mood boards, research fabrics and colour palettes for each story.
- Design Support: Assist more senior team members in design developments, spread workload, and respond to design briefs with pace.
- Style Development: Design own styles from initial research, through detailed sketches, artwork, and spec packs, working with suppliers to develop the first prototype.
- Meetings and Presentations: Manage the presentation of own Jersey team styles in Sketch & Swatch meetings and preps for senior team members when required.
- Selection and Decision-Making: Take an objective view of developments in selection meetings and decide whether they are right to be included in the collection. Offer suggestions to improve styles where relevant to improve commerciality, price, or delivery.
- Lab Dips and Colour Options: Proactively present lab dips, colour options, and inspiration in Proto meetings to support the decision-making process.
- Action Management: Manage the actions from the Sketch & Swatch, Proto, Intake meetings in a timely fashion.
- Customer Feedback and Influence: Anticipate and meet the customers' needs through customer and sales feedback, influencing designs and contributing to the overall jersey team output.
- Fit Sessions and Quality Control: Attend fit sessions and work with the Garment Tech & Buyer to ensure all styles are reviewed in accordance with the brand DNA, cost, and quality.
- Price and Critical Path Awareness: Understand and achieve company and style critical paths, being decisive to avoid blockages to critical path and collaboratively working to resolve these.
- Trend Identification: Ensure that new trends are identified and included in the range as appropriate.
- Trend Awareness: Build own trend awareness through inspiration shopping and other mediums, constantly looking for new sources of inspiration.
- Technological and Supplier Awareness: Continually seek to keep abreast of new technologies, trends, suppliers, and techniques.
- Seasonal Store Visits: Attend seasonal store visits with Design & Technical to ensure brand KPIs are consistently achieved.
- Fabric and Trim Sourcing: Sourcing fabric and trims that meet the ME+EM customer expectations (washable, non-crease, luxurious, a point of difference).
- Supplier Meetings and Travel: Meeting suppliers/travel where appropriate to develop new styles/fabric/trims.
- Fabric Fairs: Attendance at Fabric Fairs where possible and conductive to jersey team output.
