In your role as a Senior Research Engineer, you will:

  • Provide Leadership: Offer technical guidance while collaborating with fellow engineers to refine methodologies and advance the technology stack.
  • Develop and Implement: Engage in the complete software development lifecycle by applying contemporary software development practices to build, test, and deliver high-quality solutions.

Your qualifications for the Senior Research Engineer position include:

Essential skills & experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering, particularly in machine learning and natural language processing.
  • Proven experience in leading technical initiatives within a software engineering context.
  • Proficiency in Python software development stacks, with familiarity in other programming languages being advantageous.
  • Ability to comprehend, apply, integrate, and deploy machine learning capabilities and techniques into various systems.
  • Familiarity with the Python data science ecosystem, including libraries such as Numpy, Scipy, Pandas, Dask, spaCy, NLTK, and scikit-learn.
  • Commitment to writing clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Demonstrated expertise in automation, system monitoring, and cloud-native applications, with experience in AWS or Azure (or a similar cloud platform).
  • Strong background in system analysis and design, considering DevOps and automation as core principles of your work.
  • A willingness to learn and adopt new and emerging technologies.
  • Understanding of probabilistic models and the mathematical concepts underlying machine learning methods.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring teams.
  • Ability to provide guidance around challenges faced by the team.
  • Experience in communicating updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Exposure to cloud computing development (AWS/Azure).

Preferred skills & experience:

  • Experience in integrating machine learning solutions into production-grade software, with a solid understanding of ModelOps and MLOps principles.
  • Previous exposure to Natural Language Processing (NLP) challenges, with familiarity in key tasks such as Named Entity Recognition (NER), Information Extraction, and Information Retrieval.
  • Proven track record of successfully integrating machine learning solutions into production-grade software.
  • Hands-on experience with additional programming and scripting languages (Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, etc.).
