Jamma Umoja is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Support Specialist to join our team. As a Family Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in protecting, supporting, and promoting the welfare of children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and Respond to Family Needs: Conduct thorough assessments of family situations and develop personalized plans to address their unique needs.
  • Provide Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and guidance to children and their families, promoting a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Facilitate Communication: Foster open communication between families, social services, and other stakeholders to ensure effective support and care.
  • Develop and Implement Care Plans: Collaborate with families and other professionals to develop and implement care plans that meet their specific needs.
  • Monitor and Evaluate Progress: Regularly monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of care plans, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Provide Education and Training: Offer education and training to families on topics such as parenting, child development, and life skills.
  • Collaborate with Other Professionals: Work closely with other professionals, including social workers, therapists, and educators, to ensure comprehensive support for families.
  • Document and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of family interactions, assessments, and care plans.
  • Participate in Team Meetings: Regularly participate in team meetings to discuss family cases, share knowledge, and coordinate support efforts.

Requirements:

  • Education: A minimum of a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with children and families in a support or care role.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team, and a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable families.
