Position Summary:


As a key member of the Vantage Consulting team, you will report directly to the HVDC Service Operations Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to provide expert support to our HVDC service clientele across Ireland and the UK.

Your role will encompass various aspects of Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA) for both new and existing client installations.

Collaboration with the local Service Team and our strategic partners will be essential to deliver first and second line support.

This support will necessitate a commitment to being available around the clock to assist our on-site engineers. Flexibility in working hours will be required for significant maintenance activities and as situations arise.

Additionally, you will play a vital role in enhancing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards within the organization, fostering a robust safety culture and a strong environmental focus.


There will also be opportunities to contribute to the broader HVDC business as dictated by operational needs.

Main Responsibilities:

- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with our esteemed clients.
- Provide first and second line engineering and technical assistance for the HVDC Service team in the UK and Ireland.
- Lead service engineers in addressing complex challenges or major upgrades.
- Participate in Factory System Tests (FST) as required.
- Oversee the Maintenance Management System and develop maintenance protocols in compliance with local regulations.

Collaborate with the Operations Manager on Development & Competency Management planning for personnel, including training and certification of support staff to ensure a skilled and competent workforce.

- Assist in tendering for future projects in the region.
- Ensure exceptional availability for all clients.
- Facilitate availability and Cigre reporting.
- Provide tender support for global projects.
- Adapt safety protocols to align with client requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years' experience in high voltage power systems.
- Experience with HV (>125kV) substations.
- Proven maintenance and troubleshooting experience with high voltage equipment.
- Familiarity with maintenance and fault diagnosis of low voltage and mechanical systems.
- Experience in producing technical reports and conducting fault analysis.
- Proficient in maintenance management systems.
- Ability to perform under pressure and work independently.
- Strong communication skills.
- Team-building capabilities.
- Proficient in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations, with relevant qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, CSCS).
- Valid driving license.

Beneficial:

- Experience with High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems.
- At least 5 years of experience in high voltage power systems or heavy industrial settings.
- Knowledge of safety switching procedures.
- Operational experience in power plants.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Awareness of impressed voltage.
- Previous electrical/mechanical authorizations (Person, CP, AP, SAP).
- Demonstrated experience in providing safety from the system and implementing safe work systems.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting experience with UPS systems, battery chargers, air handling units, pumps, PLCs, and generators.
- Familiarity with fire detection and protection systems.
- Experience with SCADA/PLCs and control systems.
- Offshore qualifications such as HUET and GWO.
