Job Title: Senior Welding Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Welding Engineer to join our Laser Processing Team based in Coventry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical delivery of welding/joining projects and will support the development of project-related activities across the MTC, working across various technology departments and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical delivery of welding/joining projects, ensuring work meets or exceeds agreed customer requirements, within agreed budgets and timescales.
  • Undertake innovative engineering research work focused primarily on technology/manufacturing readiness levels (TRL/MRL) 3+, and able to demonstrate industrial project delivery.
  • Contribute to the identification, technical specification, and delivery of new and novel technology capability into the MTC, customers, or industrial members' premises.

Requirements:

  • Degree calibre engineer or technologist.
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience in any or all the following areas: Welding/joining; Robotic/automated welding; Arc welding; Welding standards and application of welding standards; Welding qualification; Directed Energy Deposition (DED); Process development.
  • Ideally working towards professional registration.
  • Ideally have experience in writing reports and presenting to wider audiences.
  • Ideally have exposure to the UK manufacturing sector.
