About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and career-driven Optometrist to join our team at Compass Associates. As a Specialist Optometrist, you will be working in a hospital environment with a focus on Cataract surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out examinations associated with cataract surgery
  • Run acute and follow-up clinics post-surgery, documenting findings in electronic medical records
  • Provide health advice and support to patients
  • Provide first-line clinical advice and refer patients to medical practitioners as necessary
  • Ensure awareness of equipment usage, safety precautions, and handling within the clinical competency framework
  • Stay up-to-date with CQC policies and updates, attending mandatory courses
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean working environment and adhering to cross-infection control policies
  • Document and report any accidents or incidents
  • Identify process improvements to ensure a streamlined, efficient, and high-quality service
  • Build relationships with patients to understand their needs and provide suitable treatment solutions
  • Explain treatment options and answer patient questions
  • Achieve set conversion rates from consultation to treatment booking
  • Ensure compliance with pre-authorisation processes and collect surgery deposits

Requirements:

  • GOC Registered
  • Minimum 2 years post-registration experience in the UK
  • Experience working in a clinical or hospital setting
  • Experience in refraction
  • Experience with patient administration systems and electronic medical records
  • Cataract experience (desirable), with training available
  • IP qualification (desirable), with training available
