Boeing Defence United Kingdom (BDUK) is seeking a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Engineer to enhance our existing product lines, primarily focusing on Fixed and Rotary Wing aircraft, along with Training Systems.
As a key subsidiary of the Boeing Company, BDUK employs over 1,400 professionals in the UK, delivering vital contracts to our defence clients. Our portfolio includes advanced capabilities such as the E-7 AEW&C and the P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, alongside support for the Chinook and Apache Fleets, and various logistic and training services.
The Engineering division at BDUK operates within a matrix structure, comprising several departments that provide essential technical skills and expertise to our projects. This role is situated within the Product Support Engineering Department, which encompasses the following technical domains:
- Reliability-Centered Maintenance Analysis
- Reliability and Maintainability
- Logistic Support Analysis
- Engineering Data Utilization
- Obsolescence Management
- Technical Documentation
- Product Support Engineering
As a GSE Engineer, your responsibilities will include facilitating and implementing Product Support Engineering principles while ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards. You will report to the BDUK Product Support Engineering Manager and collaborate with various specialists within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate engineering responses to on-site operations and provide updates on GSE engineering activities.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, ILS, Publications, Supply Chain, and other Product Support Departments to gather and share necessary data.
- Develop maintenance policies and maintain essential plans and databases to ensure GSE outputs align with technical and regulatory standards.
- Work with customers to define and collect design requirements for modifying or developing new GSE items.
- Document the GSE approval process to address potential issues in released engineering.
- Identify requirements and develop/update maintenance documents while delivering routine Product Support outputs.
- Conduct analyses to collate and present actionable data relevant to GSE.
- Review engineering changes to support customer maintenance operations.
- Assist in creating and customizing reports and tooling specifications.
- Identify and promote Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Support audits and reviews to ensure compliance with product and data requirements.
- Work under the guidance of the Lead Technical Support Engineer and the BDUK Product Support Manager.
Additionally, you may have opportunities to engage in various programs, business development initiatives, and contribute to engineering excellence as part of your career growth at Boeing.
Beyond technical responsibilities, you may also support company initiatives such as quality improvements, fostering a safety culture, promoting diversity and inclusion, mentoring, and participating in outreach projects to enhance the growth of the company and its workforce.
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Essential:
- Ability to obtain SC security clearance.
- Experience with support equipment usage and requirements.
Desirable:
- Degree in a relevant STEM field or equivalent experience in engineering.
- Understanding of Support Engineering in a military context.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
