Job Description

Job Title: Chief Commercial Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Chief Commercial Officer to join our team at Calibre Search. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our commercial operations and providing strategic guidance on commercial matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Management: Manage the commercial team, comprising of estimators, buyers, and quantity surveyors, to ensure effective commercial operations.
  • Risk Analysis: Conduct risk analysis and advise on contractual matters to minimize potential risks.
  • Contract Negotiation: Identify, value, and agree additional works and scope within projects, including the preparation and agreement of variations, quotations, and re-rates.
  • Cost Control: Manage cost control, cost management, and comparisons against budget and tender allowances.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and update financial reports, including accurate and detailed monthly CVRs, cash flow forecasts, weekly site costs, commercial risk registers, material wastage reconciliations, and other financial and commercial reports as required.
  • Contract Administration: Prepare, negotiate, and agree interim applications, valuations, and final accounts in conjunction with the Site QS, including substantiation of claims for compensation events, additional works, delays, disruptions, and financing.
  • Commercial Support: Provide advice and offer commercial support to the project team on costs, contractual matters, commercial strategies, risk, and other commercial matters.
  • Procurement: Procure subcontractors/consultants, including the preparation of subcontract documents/consultancy orders.
  • Team Management: Mentor and lead the site Quantity Surveyors and head office commercial administration resources.
  • General Administration: Manage subcontractors/consultants from enquiry stage through to negotiation and settlement of final accounts, including receiving and responding to subcontractor applications, notices, claims, and variations, agreement of interim/final measures, and additional work items, and reporting liabilities.
  • Communication: Attend progress meetings, design meetings, subcontractor meetings, and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of ten years post-qualification experience on turnkey projects as a contractor.
  • Culture: Ability to work with different business cultures.
  • Leadership: Ability to plan, manage, and coordinate subcontractors, designers, and consultants.
  • Contract Knowledge: Strong knowledge of NEC forms of Contract.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient Microsoft Office user, including Excel and Word.
