Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Secretary to join our Ophthalmology team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. As a Medical Secretary, you will provide administrative support to our Consultant and Junior Medical Staff, ensuring the smooth operation of our department.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Consultant and Junior Medical Staff, including audio and digital typing duties, mail management, and data entry.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks and workload to ensure efficient operation of the department.
  • Facilitate administrative sessions to discuss waiting lists, patient queries, and other departmental matters.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including waiting lists and patient information.
  • Assist with the implementation of new administrative procedures and protocols.

Requirements
  • Good standard of general education and English grammar.
  • GCSE Level or higher, NVQ 3 or equivalent experience.
  • AMSPAR Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Word processing and typing qualifications.
  • Audio Typing Level II.
  • Sufficient experience as a Medical Secretary.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of secretarial procedures and Microsoft Office.
  • Wide understanding of medical terminology.
  • Good understanding of the need for accurate data capture and reporting.
